Handicap system from 2004

The handicap committee decided to implement a new system of bonus / penalty stableford points from 2004 onwards.

The system operates as follows: -

Members play off their golf club handicaps (GUI handicap) but scores will be adjusted by the addition / subtraction of bonus / penalty points for 2004 based on last years scorecards.

Current members who are not members of a golf club will have their handicap for 2004 based on last year’s scorecards.

New members who are not members of a golf club play off a maximum handicap of 18 and the handicap committee will keep this under review.

Bonus / Penalty points

Overall winner            minus 3 points

Category winner        minus 2 points

Runner-up                  minus 1 point

Scorecards 30 stableford points that do not win a prize           1 bonus point

Scorecards > 30 stableford points will not gain any bonus points

The handicap committee will meet before each outing and agree handicaps plus bonus / penalty points for all members.  The handicaps / bonus & penalty points will be available on the day of the outing.

The handicap committee decision in these matters is final.

This system was amended for season 2006 and again for 2007.
